  Ok, our first theme about Hawaii's food -poke .Poke is a food that is becoming popular on the mainland United States. Poke is raw ahi tuna, a type of fish soaked in sauces, and is the unofficial food of Hawaii. These days, you will find the dish, pronounced po-kay, all over the United States. 

Homesick Hawaiians must be thrilled, right?

"I tried one, and I swore never to go again," said Sonny Acosta, 30, who moved to New York from Honolulu, Hawaii. "It's not really poke."

It's not just that poke tastes better when you are in Hawaii. It's that mainland chefs have changed traditional poke. People from Hawaii say that changing it is disrespectful to their culture. That is part of a debate about whether a dish prepared outside its original place is respectful or is cultural appropriation. Cultural appropriation happens when a group in power is trying to make money by using the culture of a group without as much power
